MidKent College is incredibly proud to support Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex as our charity of the year. In January the charity held their first virtual challenge event, to run 31 miles in 31 days.

Fantastically, over 1300 people took part, running 50,000 miles and raising more than £157,000 for the charity. Some of our staff rose to the challenge, including curriculum manager Neil Hemstead and Executive Director Jacqueline Watt.

Neil said “I started running in September 2019 with a local running club. When I saw on Facebook that Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex was looking for runners to raise money, I thought this was a great idea as some of my friends and family have had the experience of their support. This was a great idea, firstly to help this local charity, which the College is a great supporter of, as well as give me the motivation to exercise in January! I raised £262 for the charity; a significant amount of which I was proud to contribute.”

Jackie said “It was a real challenge to complete the 31 miles in the cold, wet and dark in January. I used my dog walking time to run the miles, and managed to raise £205.”

The College is looking forward to continuing to support Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex in 2021. Thank you for all of the work that you do for our local community.
