Graphic design students Kayzie Deer, Griff Dodson and Kayla Bannister from MidKent College recently showcased their creative talents in a logo design competition for the Social Regeneration Programme.

The winning logo was selected based on feedback from attendees at the Social Regeneration Launch Conference.

On Monday, 1 July, Medway and Swale Health and Care Partnership representatives visited the Medway Campus to honour the top two runners-up and the overall winner with certificates and prizes. This initiative was designed to engage students in community projects and bring attention to their creative abilities.

The small awards ceremony celebrated the students' contributions and recognised their hard work designing impactful logos for the programme. The event highlighted the importance of student involvement in local community initiatives, emphasising how their creativity can make a significant difference.

Nikki Teesdale, Director of Health and Care Integration and Improvement at Medway & Swale Health and Care Partnership said “Social regeneration goes beyond being just an abstract idea or a concept; it is a call to action, a commitment to rebuild and revitalise the very fabric of our society. It recognises that our communities face complex challenges - from economic disparity and social injustice to ecological decline and cultural erosion. However, it also acknowledges the inherent resilience and potential within each of us to effect meaningful change.

We were thrilled that MidKent students wanted to be involved and the standard of entry to the competition made for a very difficult decision, however, votes on the day and the second round made for a clear winner in Kayzie Deer. The winning logo encapsulates our communities coming together and will identify as a symbol for change for the social regeneration programme.”

Congratulations to Kayzie Deer who was announced as the winner of the competition.
