The sky’s the limit for MidKent College’s Travel & Tourism students! Many of those students who completed their programme in June 2019 have already gained employment within the fast-paced and growing industry.
Many Cabin Crew students have passed the rigorous airline assessment tests and will be shortly be crew for main airlines including British Airways and easyJet. Others have successfully gained employment as reps and customer service agents at Heathrow.
Lisa Russell, Travel & Tourism lecturer, said “We’re really proud of the achievements of our students this year with many gaining employment within the industry. This is due to their hard work and dedication, combined with the valuable employability skills they learnt on their placements and their use of our fully equipped aircraft cabin at our Maidstone Campus.
We look forward to welcoming our new students, and supporting them to achieve their career aspirations of working within the travel and tourism industry.”
The College’s Maidstone Campus offers a fully equipped passenger cabin for students to hone their customer service and practical skills. Students learn a wide range of topics from worldwide destinations and sustainable tourism to services and attractions. They’ll also complete industry placements in Seville, the House of Commons and the Taste of Kent Awards!
Students Max, Aimee and Mia have recently joined the College’s Level 2 in Cabin Crew programme: “We chose to study here because MidKent College is the only College in the area that does this specific programme – it’s more specialist for what we want to do. Everyone has been really friendly and there’s lots of opportunities here.
We all want to be cabin crew, and travel to different places every day. The facilities and uniform are professional, and we gain lots of practical experience for when we’re crew in the industry. So far we’ve taken part in the “Travel Olympics”, which has been lots of teambuilding activities to get to know each other.”
We are still taking applications to start this September! Find out more about our Travel & Tourism programmes here.
