Students from both campuses battled it out on 12 February to create the next big sensation in sports drinks...

IT, Public Services, Sport and Business students formed teams to pool their knowledge and gain valuable employability skills whilst learning the processes involved with start-ups and how to market a brand-new product.

The teams had to present their product and business plan in a pitch - which led to a thorough grilling by our four judges! After much deliberation the judges decided upon Team Vox ('power' in Latin) who designed their energy drink to be pink in colour and with a distinctive muscular bottle shape.

Boasting a slogan 'Natural Power is Real Power', they showed their product would contain all natural, UK based ingredients. Also, with a concise business plan and even an online game it was easy to see the involvement that had gone into creating their brand.

Team Komeracle with their drink 'Kobra' came in a very close second.

Carl Brownsill, owner and director of Phoenix Analyst Limited, sponsored the event to promote entrepreneurship and enterprise. Carl said: "By sponsoring events such as this, my primary goal is to get those interested in business better acquainted with the development of ideas from start to finish."

We'd like to say a thank you to all involved - and we're looking forward to having similar competitions in the future!
