Because our own university-level programmes in Construction and Engineering are validated by Kent’s universities, we’ve always enjoyed a great relationship with our university partners.
Over the last year we’ve built on our partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University to create a new model which helps our students prepare for, and progress to higher-level study.
In spite of the difficulties caused by the pandemic, this year we’ve co-hosted a number of events and activities online to help students access information, advice and guidance sessions, and drop-in surgeries where those interested in progressing to university can access 1:1 support.
In addition, the University supported our students by conducting 90 mock interviews, allowing our Level 3 students to gain experience in attending virtual interviews and reduce any anxieties before attending those interviews for real.
One of our Access students who is now studying Midwifery at the university said:
“We found the events throughout our time at college really helpful and informative. Our questions about the university were answered and if the answers were not known the team would find out and let us know. Any worries or concerns we had were responded to and the support we received with our UCAS applications was greatly appreciated by all the students.
“I found the mock interviews extremely helpful and beneficial; they made me feel better prepared about what to expect on the day. I genuinely feel that the mock interviews helped me to build my confidence and gain my place at CCCU.”
